 Long jumper Ese Brume wins first medal for Nigeria in ongoing Tokyo Olympics

Ese Brume has won the first medal for Nigeria at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

She won bronze in long jump.

MEANWHILE; Namibian Christine Mboma has broken the 22.04 seconds 200meters African record Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare set in Abilene, Texas, USA in March 2018 with a first-ever sub-22-seconds performance by an African woman in the event.

The 18-year-old ran a blistering 21.97 seconds to come second in the second semifinal heat of the 200meters event at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan to secure the second automatic ticket for Tuesday’s final where she will be running alongside two other Africans, fellow Namibian Beatrice Masilingi and veteran Ivorian, Marie-Jose ta Lou.

STILL IN SPORTS; The 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League play-off draw took place yesterday where the teams were drawn into ten fixtures with the winners advancing to the group stage.

The fixtures will be finalized on 10th and 12th August with the completion of the third qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
